Note: this article covers a feature that is available to Starter, Pro, and Business customers. If you're on the Free plan, level up to use this feature. Favicons are the little icons you see at the top of your browser tab when you're on a website. Weebly has a favicon, Google has one... many companies configure their settings so that favicons will display. In Google Chrome, a favicon will appear alongside the site's title in the browser tab.
To add a favicon to your site:
-
Log into Weebly
-
Click the Settings tab at the top of the page
-
Click General, in the left-hand sidebar, if it's not already selected
-
Click the Upload button in the bottom right corner in the Favicon section
-
Upload a favicon image from your computer per these specifics:
-
Image must be square
-
Image should be .jpg, .jpeg, or .ico file
-
Image should be 64 pixels by 64 pixels in size (though you can go bigger on this as long as you maintain the aspect ratio) If the upload is a success, you'll see the favicon displayed on your Settings page.
-
Click the Publish button in the top right-hand corner of the page to save the changes to your site It will probably take a while for your new favicon to show up on your browser. Favicons are heavily cached by browsers and they don't immediately update that cache, just because you've published your site. If you've successfully uploaded a favicon and aren't seeing it in the browser after you've published your site, reload the page (using your browser's reload option) several times and it should pop up.
