Migrate a Hosting Account in Reseller Central

A key feature in Reseller Central is the ability to migrate a hosting account to a different node/location. This is a completely automated process.

  1. Login to Reseller Central by visiting https://cp.hostnine.com

  2. In the Account Functions section click Migrate Account

  3. Select the domain you wish to migrate to a new node/location.

    Note: accounts with a disk space usage of 2 GB or greater will not show in the drop down of domains, please contact the transfers department to have this account moved manually. Before you initiate a migration, be sure to create a full backup of the account and download it to your computer. This can be completed within the backup section of the accounts cPanel account. If you are unsure how to do this please see this article.

  4. Click 'Next'

  5. On the following page it will allow you to choose a new location

  6. Click 'Start Migration'; the migration has been added to the queue


Note: It can take anywhere from a few minutes to several hours for a migration to complete. There are several factors that determine the speed of a migration such as the size of the account, the number of migrations already in the queue, and the distance between the old and new node. The migration system will automatically send you an email once the migration has completed.

Once a migration is complete there will be a small amount of downtime, of which you may see a blue Apache page. This is normal and will clear up within a few hours. If this screen has not disappeared after 48 hours please contact the support department.
